Wydad Casablanca Eliminated by Juventus as Yildiz Shines Bright
Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca were knocked out of the tournament following a 4-1 defeat to Juventus, largely due to a stellar performance from Kenan Yildiz.
The young Turkish star scored twice and assisted another, extinguishing all hopes for Wydad.
Just six minutes into the match, Yildiz’s powerful shot deflected off Abdelmounaim Boutouil and found the back of the net.
As the ball changed direction, the goal was officially credited as an own goal by the Wydad defender.
However, Yildiz returned to the spotlight in the 16th minute with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, doubling Juventus’ lead. Wydad responded through Thembinkosi Lorch, who reduced the deficit to 2-1 before halftime.
In the 69th minute, Yildiz scored his second goal of the match, restoring Juventus’ two-goal cushion. A late penalty converted by Dusan Vlahovic sealed the scoreline at 4-1 for the Italian side.
Juventus head coach Igor Tudor praised Yildiz after the game, stating:
“I’m happy. It was not easy. It was hot, but it was a good win. In the end, our quality prevailed. Yildiz has great potential. He is not only talented, but also very smart. A wonderful player with a big future ahead of him.”
