At the IFAF Africa Flag Football Continental Championships, Nigeria emerged as the winner in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The men’s team narrowly defeated Egypt 13-12 in a thrilling final, while the Nigerian women’s team comfortably beat Morocco 26-12.
Tunisia secured third place in the men’s tournament, while Egypt took the bronze in the women’s competition.
With these victories, both Nigerian teams earned direct qualification for the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships.
In this global tournament, 16 teams from each gender will compete, and Nigeria will now have the opportunity to fight for the championship title.
This was the first-ever African flag football championship, organized with the goal of promoting the sport across the continent.
The tournament also served as a stepping stone for the sport’s inclusion in future Olympic Games, including its debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
