Nigeria emerged as the winner of the Unity Cup. The final match ended 2-2 in regular time, and Nigeria won in the penalty shootout.
In the 9th minute, Moses Simon gave Nigeria the lead. Just three minutes later, Kaheim Dixon equalized to make it 1-1. Early in the second half, AC Milan star Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead 2-1.
However, Jamaica’s Jon Russell struck in the 63rd minute to level the score again. The match finished 2-2 after regular time with no further goals.
The game went to penalties, where a total of 10 spot-kicks were taken, with 9 successfully converted. Only Jamaican player Dwayne Atkinson missed by sending the ball over the bar. Nigeria won the shootout 5-4 and claimed the trophy.
In the third-place playoff, Ghana defeated Trinidad & Tobago 4-0. Ghana’s goals were scored by Jordan Ayew, Razak Simpson, Mohammed Fuseini, and Lawrance Agyekum, respectively.
