Recently, an interesting rumor began spreading on social media. According to the claims, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, wanted to own a Ballon d’Or trophy.
To achieve this, he allegedly sought to acquire the 1995 Ballon d’Or from its rightful owner, George Weah.
However, the legendary Liberian footballer Weah denied these allegations. He emphasized the sentimental value of the award to him.
“I will reject even $1 billion from Elon Musk if he comes to me and tells me he wants to buy my Ballon d’Or. My Ballon d’Or is not for sale. And I will tell my children never to sell it. It will remain for generations to come because I worked for it,” he said.
The former Liberian president also clarified that Musk had never made such an offer.
“While it is true that my Ballon d’Or trophy is not for sale, as I have said many times, Mr. Musk has never offered to buy it,” Weah stated.
He dismissed the reports as false and inaccurate. In an official post on his Facebook page, he set the record straight by sharing the truth.
