FIFA imposed a football ban on the Republic of Congo in February.
The reason for this was third-party interference in the affairs of the country’s football federation, Fecofoot.
FIFA described the interference as serious and stated that it constituted “a clear violation of Fecofoot’s obligations” under FIFA’s statutes.
As a result, Congo was unable to play their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania and Zambia. These matches were postponed to a later date following FIFA’s decision.
One of the key conditions for lifting the ban was that full control of Fecofoot’s headquarters and other facilities be returned to the federation’s executive committee.
The Republic of Congo has now met these conditions, and the football ban has officially been lifted.
FIFA has not yet announced whether the two missed World Cup qualifying matches will be rescheduled.
However, Congo will be allowed to participate in the final four group-stage qualifiers, which are set to take place in September and October.
