The new leadership of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) continues to work toward a comprehensive transformation of the organization.
Since taking office on January 25, the ZIFA Executive Committee, led by President Nqobile Magwizi, has focused on establishing structures and policies to restructure the federation.
This week, several ZIFA officials were dispatched to the South African Football Association (SAFA) for a benchmarking visit. Given that the South African league is one of the most prestigious on the continent, ZIFA hopes to gain significant experience from this visit.
ZIFA’S STATEMENT
In a statement regarding the visit, ZIFA mentioned:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is pleased to announce that a high-level delegation, led by President Mr. Nqobile Magwizi, is currently in South Africa on an official information exchange tour with the South African Football Association (SAFA).”
“The two-day visit will focus on the sharing of best practices and strategic insights across several key areas of the game, including governance, human resources, information technology, competitions, and commercialisation.”
“This engagement is part of ZIFA’s broader efforts to enhance football development through collaboration with regional and continental partners, and to strengthen institutional capacity.”
“ZIFA is committed to continuous learning and building partnerships as we work towards a more professional, efficient, and commercially viable football ecosystem.”
MOROCCO VISIT
President Nqobile Magwizi is determined to elevate Zimbabwean football. Just a month ago, he paid a visit to Morocco.
That trip resulted in agreements for Zimbabwe to play friendly matches against Morocco, and women’s football is also expected to benefit from this partnership.
During the Morocco visit, ZIFA announced several key gains: training programs for coaches, referees, and administrators; friendly matches between senior and youth national teams; development of youth and women’s football; as well as exchange programs and joint events.
ZIFA DETERMINED FOR CHANGE
Morocco is set to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, while South Africa previously hosted it in 2010. For ZIFA, learning from the experience of these major events holds great importance.
Magwizi has openly expressed ZIFA’s ambition to accelerate football development in Zimbabwe by building strong relationships with leading football associations such as Morocco, Egypt, and South Africa.
