This season, Orlando Pirates have reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and are still in the race for the South African league title. Much of this success is attributed to their head coach, Jose Riveiro.
One of Africa’s other football giants, Zamalek FC, has taken note of Riveiro’s impressive achievements. As a result, they are eager to secure the Spanish tactician as their new head coach for next season.
Riveiro has won five trophies with Orlando Pirates and has become a key figure at the club. Currently, he earns approximately R650,000 per month in Mayfair.
Zamalek, on the other hand, reportedly pays their head coaches around R1.5 million per month. If Riveiro joins the Egyptian side, he could more than double his current salary.
The Spanish coach had previously announced that he would not be renewing his contract with the Buccaneers. In preparation for his departure, Orlando Pirates are already considering possible replacements.
Among the top candidates being considered are Ferran Sibila, Rulani Mokwena, Pitso Mosimane, and current fitness coach Carlos Nodar Paz.
