Kenyan young right-back Baron Ochieng has transferred to Zamalek. The 19-year-old signed a four-year deal, and the Egyptian club did not pay any transfer fee for the player.
Ochieng, who captained Kenya U20 at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, is considered a promising talent.
Last season, Zamalek reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and finished 3rd in the Egyptian Premier League.
This year, the club has added 11 new players to their squad. They have also had a strong start to the season and are currently in 2nd place in the league, just 1 point behind the leaders. Their rivals, Pyramids, are 2 points behind, while Al Ahly is already 5 points back.
With this transfer, Zamalek has made an investment not only for the current season but also for the future.
The club will also participate in the Confederation Cup this season, which will require a broader rotation. Baron Ochieng’s addition could help Zamalek manage this challenge more comfortably.
