Ethiopian young athletes left their mark on the tRUNsylvania 10K, a World Athletics Elite Label road race.
At just 19 years old, Khairi Bejiga clocked an impressive 26:54, the second-fastest time in history for the U20 category.
South Africa’s Maxime Chaumeton finished second, while Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi took third place.
In the women’s race, Ethiopian runner Medina Eisa claimed victory with a time of 30:28. Kenya’s Brenda Jepchumba Kenei finished second, followed by her compatriot Mariam Lufti Njoki in third.
Turkish athlete Yasemin Can finished fourth, setting a new Turkish national record with her performance.
These outstanding results from the young athletes once again highlight Ethiopia’s bright future in athletics.
