Vodacom Tanzania has announced that it will invest up to $100 million to upgrade network sites across the country, improve IT infrastructure, and enhance the M-Pesa platform.
Following this move, the company expects to transform connectivity, improve service quality, and strengthen digital inclusion in rural areas.
Over the next 25 years, the initiative is projected to increase data speeds and provide better call quality. It also aims to deliver stronger cybersecurity while meeting the needs of the company’s growing customer base.
Vodacom Tanzania Managing Director Philip Besiimire stated that more than 1,000 network sites have already been modernized in the lake zone, the southern highlands, and parts of central Tanzania.
“With this investment, we are laying the foundation for the next five years and beyond. We are empowering people through better access, protecting the planet with greener technologies, and maintaining the trust of our customers, partners, and investors,” he said.
The company also plans to reduce energy consumption by up to 30% while expanding coverage.
