Victor Osimhen has officially become the top scorer of the Turkish Super Lig.
He finished the season with 26 goals, five ahead of his closest rival Krzysztof Piatek and six ahead of Youssef En-Nesyri. He also played a crucial role in leading Galatasaray to the league title.
The former Napoli star had previously won the Golden Boot in Italy’s Serie A during the 2022–23 season, scoring 26 goals and helping Napoli win the league title for the first time in 33 years. With this latest achievement, Osimhen joins a select group of players who have won Golden Boots in two of Europe’s top five leagues.
Osimhen also became the first Nigerian player in history to win the Super Lig Golden Boot. In addition, he is only the fourth African player to claim this honour. The others are Morocco’s Aatif Chahechouhe (2014), Senegal’s Mbaye Diagne (2019), and Gabon’s Aaron Boupendza (2021).
This season also proved remarkable for Nigerian strikers overall. Tolu Arokodare in the Belgian league and Cyriel Dessers in the Scottish league both finished as top scorers in their respective competitions.
