Uganda stole the spotlight at the Rugby Africa Women’s Division One tournament with a dominant performance.
Riding on their recent momentum, the Lady Cranes crushed Zimbabwe 63-7 and officially secured qualification for the 2025 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup.
The tournament followed a round-robin format, and Uganda managed to overpower all of their opponents — including the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire. Despite Tunisia ending their campaign with a convincing 34-0 win over Côte d’Ivoire, it was Uganda’s consistency and devastating attacking play that made them the undisputed stars of the tournament.
Uganda finished the tournament unbeaten, winning all their matches and showcasing tactical discipline and collective strength.
This flawless campaign has earned them a spot in the elite division of the 2025 competition.
In the next round, Uganda will face some of Africa’s toughest teams: South Africa, Kenya, and Madagascar.
With South Africa having won every past edition of the tournament, and Kenya and Madagascar regularly placing in the top three, Uganda will face their biggest challenge yet on the continental stage.
