Türkiye has emerged as Ethiopia’s second-largest foreign investor, with investments nearing $2.5 billion across multiple sectors such as textiles, agribusiness, construction, and digital infrastructure.
The announcement was made during the opening of the 8th World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum in Addis Ababa, where Ethiopian Investment Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen highlighted the presence of over 260 Turkish companies actively operating in the country. He praised the evolving economic partnership, which now extends beyond diplomacy to include collaboration in trade, health, technology, education, and cultural exchange.
Türkiye’s Commercial Counsellor in Addis Ababa, Taha Alperen Salar, described Ethiopia as a key strategic partner in East Africa and encouraged local businesses to strengthen ties with Turkish suppliers, citing quality and affordability.
In recognition of Ethiopia’s growing economic significance, WCI Forum President Utku Bengisu announced that Ethiopia will be the guest of honor at the forum’s 13th edition in Istanbul this August.
The deepening of Türkiye-Ethiopia economic ties reflects broader shifts in Türkiye’s Africa engagement, combining investment, industry, and mutual development.
