KHARTOUM, Oct. 14, 2025 — Turkish investors have resumed industrial production in Sudan’s Khartoum State, signaling renewed confidence in the country’s economic prospects after months of disruption caused by conflict.
The Aslan Gypsum Factory, one of the largest of its kind in the region, has officially reopened after undergoing full rehabilitation. The factory has begun producing high-quality gypsum for local construction markets, marking a major step toward reviving Sudan’s industrial base.
Local officials and business representatives hailed the development as a strong indicator of Sudan’s gradual recovery and the resilience of international partnerships. “This investment reflects not only the trust of Turkish enterprises but also the enduring friendship between the peoples of Sudan and Turkey,” a factory spokesperson said.
The reopening also underscores Ankara’s ongoing support for Sudan’s reconstruction efforts. Turkish entrepreneurs have expressed willingness to expand their activities in the country’s manufacturing, construction, and agricultural sectors once stability improves.
Analysts say the move could encourage other foreign investors to return to Sudan’s market, which has suffered significant losses amid ongoing instability.
Despite continuing challenges, the renewed engagement of Turkish businesses offers a glimpse of optimism for Sudan’s economic revival and the strengthening of regional cooperation.
