In response to the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, pro-Palestinian activists in Tunisia are preparing to launch a new solidarity convoy by sea. The initiative, known as the Maghreb Resistance Convoy, aims to challenge the Israeli blockade and draw international attention to the crisis.
The Palestinian Joint Action Coordination, the group organizing the mission, announced the plan on Facebook, declaring: “Our sails are set for Gaza. Our objective is to break this shameful blockade.” The statement emphasized that Palestinians in Gaza continue to suffer from severe shortages of food and water, forced displacement, and ongoing violence.
The upcoming convoy will reportedly include international participation and travel via maritime routes, following previous overland efforts.
Call for Global Solidarity
Organizers have urged global civil society, institutions, and individuals standing with the Palestinian people to lend their voices and join the action. Further details are expected to be announced in a press conference in the coming days.
A previous land convoy from Tunisia in June, which included nearly 1,500 volunteers, reached Libya but was denied passage into the country’s eastern region, forcing its return on June 20.
Israeli Forces Intercept Previous Gaza-Bound Ship
In a related development, the Madleen, a civilian aid ship that departed from Italy on June 1, was intercepted by Israeli forces on June 9. All 12 volunteers on board were detained. The incident underscored the growing pressure and obstacles faced by civilian missions attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.
This latest effort reflects increasing momentum across North Africa and the broader Arab world to challenge the blockade and demonstrate solidarity with the people of Gaza.
