Trump invited Infantino to the Egypt Peace Summit.
Regarding this, Infantino said,
“FIFA is here; we are ready to help, support, and do everything we can to ensure this peace process reaches the best possible outcome.”
Last week, FIFA President Infantino had called for football to support peace efforts in the Middle East, ahead of two World Cup qualifying matches involving Israel, after pro-Palestinian demonstrations were planned in stadiums.
Following the announcement of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire on Friday, Infantino praised the plan and stated that President Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
At the peace summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh, the FIFA President emphasized the unifying role of football and announced that FIFA would support efforts to rebuild football infrastructure in Gaza after the conflict.
The pair had previously shared the stage at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2020.
Now, at the summit in Egypt, Trump referred to Infantino as “my great friend.”
