Orlando Pirates, one of South Africa’s biggest clubs, has tragically lost its promising young defender, Setjhaba Mofokeng. Reports of the player’s passing on Friday began circulating, and the club has now confirmed the heartbreaking news.
The club’s official statement read:
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of Setjhaba Mofokeng. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time. Setjhaba, who was on loan at Wits at the time of his passing, was part of our 2023/24 DDC team.”
Mofokeng joined the Orlando Pirates academy at just 16 years old, showing immense potential for both his team and South African football.
Sadly, he has left us at a very young age, leaving his loved ones and football fans in mourning.
