The FIFA World Cup African qualifiers continue in full excitement.
After a long break, national teams have once again begun their battle to secure a place in the finals, which will feature 48 teams.
GABON CLAIMS A BIG WIN
The 7th week of the qualifiers kicked off yesterday with the Gabon–Seychelles match. Gabon, led by a hat-trick from Denis Bouanga, secured a comfortable 4-0 victory. With this result, they moved to the top of Group F with a game in hand.
This outcome also means that Gabon continues to challenge another strong contender for first place, the AFCON champions, Ivory Coast.
SURPRISE RESULTS IN GROUP I
Today, three matches were played in Group I. Group leaders Ghana surprisingly drew 1-1 with Chad, who had not collected a single point so far in the qualifiers.
Mali defeated Comoros 3-0, while Madagascar secured a 2-0 win against the Central African Republic. As a result, the race for the top spot in Group I has become very competitive.
TUNISIA CLOSING IN ON TOP SPOT
In Group H, Tunisia defeated Liberia 3-0, almost securing their place as group leaders.
São Tomé and Príncipe, meanwhile, suffered a 3-2 loss to Equatorial Guinea.
GROUP D TITLE RACE HEATS UP
Another group with three matches today was Group D. Cape Verde beat Mauritius 2-0 to keep up their pursuit of the top spot.
Cameroon also stayed in the title race with a 3-0 win over Eswatini. In the other match, Libya edged Angola 1-0.
EGYPT AND ALGERIA TAKE CONTROL
In Group A, Sierra Leone drew 1-1 with Guinea-Bissau, a result that gave group leaders Egypt a clear advantage.
Finally, Algeria defeated Botswana 3-1 to strengthen their lead at the top of Group G with 18 points.
