Ademola Lookman, who won the African Player of the Year award this year, has faced harsh criticism from Atalanta’s head coach Ivan Juric.
Due to this tension, the star player is expected to miss Atalanta’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.
The conflict between Lookman and Atalanta began when former coach Gian Piero Gasperini criticized him for taking a penalty.
Later, during the summer transfer window, Atalanta reportedly made it difficult for Lookman to leave the club. As a result, Lookman refused to participate in training for an extended period.
Atalanta head coach Ivan Juric openly criticized Lookman’s attitude and questioned his commitment to the club. This has significantly increased the tension between the player and the team.
It is expected that Lookman will remain sidelined for some time. However, this situation could hinder his participation with Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
