Letsile Tebogo, who won an Olympic gold medal for Botswana, finished first in the 200-meter race in Tokyo with a time of 20.19 seconds.
Despite this, he was critical of his sprint performance. The star athlete promised to run much better in the next round.
Acknowledging technical mistakes in the curve, the Botswanan athlete said he was happy with the result but could not deliver the performance he wanted.
The semifinals are scheduled for today, with the finals taking place on Friday. Pointing to the curve as the key area for improvement, Tebogo vowed to deliver a much stronger performance:
“First of all, I will take the curve much better; this time it will be very different.”
Having won the gold medal in the 200 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tebogo is considered one of the top favorites for the final.
