Tanzania is set to host the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit on January 27-28, aiming to accelerate access to electricity across the continent. The event will gather over 1,500 participants, including representatives from major organizations like the African Union and the World Bank.
The summit focuses on achieving universal energy access, targeting 300 million Africans by 2030. Fourteen African nations will endorse the Africa Energy Compact, outlining plans to address electricity shortages and clean cooking solutions for populations in need.
Tanzania will highlight its energy advancements, including the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project, which will soon generate 2,115 megawatts, and other renewable energy initiatives expected to add 1,100 megawatts to the grid. The event emphasizes collaboration among governments, private entities, and civil society to close Africa’s energy gap and promote sustainable development.
