Former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has reiterated that his only mission is to end Sudan’s ongoing war, dismissing any personal political ambitions. Speaking at Chatham House on civilian priorities for Sudan’s peace, Hamdok made it clear he has no intention of returning as Prime Minister, saying, “Stopping the war is my only goal.”
Currently leading the anti-war civilian alliance “Tagadum,” Hamdok shared that he contacted both Sudanese military chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo in the early days of the conflict, urging a ceasefire. Tagadum’s primary goals, he explained, are to address Sudan’s humanitarian crisis, end the war, and revive democratic transitions, stressing the need for a roundtable conference to unite diverse voices.
Accompanied by Tagadum members Ahmed Tud, Omer Manis, and Khalid Omer, Hamdok is meeting British officials to discuss Sudan’s crisis, though his presence has been met with public outcry. Outside the event, demonstrators protested Hamdok, accusing him of supporting the RSF and opposing the “One Army, One People” slogan popular among Sudanese military supporters. Additionally, protesters highlighted a recent arrest warrant issued for Hamdok by Sudan’s military-led government.
Amid the protests, Tagadum leaders rejected allegations of siding with the RSF, maintaining that they stand neutrally for peace and civilian-led solutions in Sudan
