South African Rugby Coach Warren Abrahams Dies at 43
South African coach Warren Abrahams, who was working at a sevens rugby tournament in Kenya, has tragically passed away at the age of 43.
Although the exact cause of his death has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate that Abrahams suddenly collapsed at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi. The young coach was taken to the hospital but could not be saved.
Following the tragic incident, the Belgium team withdrew from the Safari Sevens tournament.
The Belgium Rugby Federation released a statement expressing their condolences:
“Warren was much more than a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and above all, a kind and generous human being.”
“His smile, wisdom, and calm strength will never be forgotten… The team has already returned to Belgium and will continue to receive psychological support to help them process this personal loss.”
“Our thoughts are with Warren’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.”
