South Africa recorded their first win in Dublin against Ireland since 2012, defeating them 24-13 and maintaining their position as the number one team in the world rankings.
From the start, South Africa was the physically dominant side, applying constant pressure that resulted in Ireland receiving multiple yellow cards.
The Springboks showcased unstoppable scrum power and relentless defence throughout the match. This scrum dominance allowed the South African team to control the game and dictate the pace on the field.
South Africa also demonstrated that they are not a team relying solely on physicality. Their first try highlighted this perfectly. In the fifth minute of the match, inside centre Damian de Allende made a brilliant run and delivered a delayed pass, breaking through the Irish defence. Damian Willemse then carried the ball over the try line to score.
The second try was scored by Cobus Reinach. Although Ireland occasionally fought back, some of their tries were disallowed, which set them back further.
In the final 10 minutes, Ireland launched a desperate attack and created a few chances. However, the outcome of the match had already been decided by South Africa’s dominance and precision throughout most of the game.
