Spanish giants Sevilla have begun working on signing Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq during the winter transfer window.
Sevilla’s attacking line includes Akor Adams and Isaac Romero. Although both strikers have shown good performances, they have struggled with consistency.
The duo has scored five goals and provided one assist in eight matches, but Sevilla is looking for an alternative capable of producing more goals.
Sadiq Umar, meanwhile, has not found the playing time he wanted at Real Sociedad. The 28-year-old Nigerian has featured in only two matches so far this season.
Umar Sadiq suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury three years ago. Before the injury, he had an outstanding career, but he has struggled to regain his previous level of performance since then.
Last season, during his loan spell at Valencia, he showed glimpses of his old form, scoring five goals in 16 La Liga matches.
Despite this, Real Sociedad is expected to be open to the transfer. With a contract lasting until 2028 and a high salary, the club is likely to consider the sale seriously.
