Tonight, Barcelona will face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga as they chase the top spot in the league.
This match is particularly important for the Catalans because both Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid dropped points in their last matches, giving Barcelona a chance to climb back to the top.
However, there is another reason why this match is special. Etienne Eto’o, the son of legendary Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, will be part of the Rayo Vallecano squad.
Samuel Eto’o, during his time at Barcelona, played an exceptional role and helped the team win two UEFA Champions League titles.
It is well known that Etienne Eto’o does not have a strong relationship with his father. This is because Samuel Eto’o failed to pay the alimony owed to Etienne’s mother.
In 2018, Samuel Eto’o‘s ex-wife, Pineda, filed a lawsuit against him, which resulted in a ruling that forced Eto’o to pay €2,500 in monthly alimony.
Although Etienne Eto’o has distanced himself from his father, he seems to have inherited some of his abilities. A physically imposing forward, Etienne made his debut with Rayo Vallecano in October and scored a goal.
He has now been called up to the squad for the upcoming Barcelona match, although his chances of getting playing time are slim.
