Liverpool’s living legend Mohammed Salah is reportedly facing the possibility of leaving the club.
Salah’s contract runs until 2027, but his performance is said to have declined following his contract extension last season.
The star, who played a key role in Liverpool’s championship last season, has seen his dip in form draw attention due to his high salary. Earning £400,000 per week, reports suggest that his sale could be on the table at the end of the season.
Last season, Salah scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 47 matches. This season, however, he has managed only 5 goals and 4 assists in 18 games. While all players experience occasional dips in form, current data indicates that a sudden return to his previous performance levels seems unlikely.
On Wednesday, Liverpool will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. A defeat in this match would mark the club’s worst run of form in 72 years. Salah’s future could very well be decided after this fixture.
Although he is still capable of performing at a high level, his high wages suggest that the most likely suitors for Salah will come from Saudi Arabia.
