Kigali will host New Generation Academy, Rwanda’s first accredited institution offering professional education in software programming and embedded systems.
Scheduled to be announced on October 13, the program is designed for students who achieved high scores in the 2024/2025 national exams and successfully completed Senior 3.
The program will provide training in coding, robotics, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), emphasizing a hands-on, practical learning approach. All courses will be supported by an equivalence certificate issued by the Higher Education Council (HEC).
This initiative highlights the growing interest in coding and technology education across Africa. According to the Brookings Institution’s “Foresight Africa 2025–2030” report, around 230 million jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa will require digital skills. Programs like this play a crucial role in equipping young people with those capabilities.
Through such initiatives, Africa is set to accelerate its digital transformation and create valuable resources for sustainable development.
