A drone assault carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a paramilitary training camp in River Nile State has resulted in at least 10 fatalities and several injuries, according to a local official. The incident occurred at Al-Ma’aqil camp, approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Shendi.
The RSF deployed over 10 suicide drones targeting the camp, which hosts trainees from eastern Al Jazirah State and allied fighters. The Sudanese army’s 3rd Infantry Division claimed to have intercepted most of the drones, mitigating further damage.
Al-Amin Mohamed Al-Imam, representing the Popular Resistance in Shendi locality, confirmed the casualty figures, noting that the deceased were transported to Shendi’s morgue. Among the victims, four were identified as originating from Sheikh Maki village in Al Jazirah.
Shendi and its neighboring cities, including Al-Damar and Atbara, have experienced repeated drone assaults by the RSF. Previous strikes targeted the 3rd Infantry Division’s headquarters, government offices in Al-Damar, and Atbara Airport.
