The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have denied reports of losing their battle against the Sudanese army, asserting that their recent movements are part of a strategic repositioning.
In a statement released Thursday, the paramilitary group claimed, “Our forces have never been defeated. We are strategically expanding across battlefronts to achieve our military objectives and ultimately resolve this conflict in favor of the Sudanese people.”
The declaration follows an announcement by Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who stated that Khartoum is now “free” from RSF control after government forces expelled the group from the capital.
Despite this, the RSF insisted that their fight is far from over. “We will continue to defend our homeland and secure victory. There is no retreat, no surrender, and we remain committed to protecting the nation and upholding the dignity of the Sudanese people,” the statement read.
The RSF’s territorial control has significantly diminished in recent weeks as the army regains control of key areas, including Khartoum, Al-Jazira, White Nile, North Kordofan, Sennar, and Blue Nile states.
