According to the Sudan Doctors Network, the RSF has blocked civilians from leaving El-Fasher and confiscated vehicles that were being used for evacuation. The group also allegedly turned back residents attempting to flee, including those injured or suffering from hunger.
“The humanitarian situation is catastrophic,” the network warned, noting that medical supplies have run out and many doctors and nurses remain missing or detained.
The group called for the immediate release of civilians, the creation of safe corridors for evacuation, and permission for aid groups to recover bodies lying around the city’s outskirts.
El-Fasher fell under RSF control on October 26, in what rights organizations described as a series of massacres targeting civilians. The attack has intensified fears that Sudan could face a deeper territorial and political split.
RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) later acknowledged that “violations” had taken place, claiming internal investigations were underway.
Since April 2023, fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF has devastated the country. The war has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced over 15 million others, both internally and across borders, according to UN and local estimates.
