The first leg matches of both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals have concluded.
Mamelodi Sundowns vs Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates vs Pyramids FC both ended in goalless draws (0-0).
With the second leg matches to be played in Egypt, both Al Ahly and Pyramids FC appear to hold the advantage.
Playing at home could prove decisive, and fans might be treated to an all-Egyptian final if both teams secure wins in the return legs.
RS Berkane Run Riot, Simba Snatch Slim Lead
The CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals delivered more excitement. One of the tournament’s most in-form teams, Moroccan side RS Berkane, showed no mercy against Algerian outfit CS Constantine.
Youssef Mehri opened the scoring in the very first minute, followed by Paul Bassene doubling the lead in the 21st minute. In the second half, Haytam Manaout contributed two assists, while Oussama Lamlioui netted twice to seal a dominant 4-0 victory.
Barring a miracle, RS Berkane have all but secured their place in the final.
In the other semi-final, surprise package Simba SC from Tanzania grabbed a 1-0 win over South Africa’s Stellenbosch FC, thanks to a spectacular long-range free kick by Jean Ahoua.
Although Simba have the edge, Stellenbosch will be confident heading into the second leg on home soil.
The second leg matches of the CAF Champions League semi-finals will be played on April 25, while the CAF Confederation Cup second legs are scheduled for April 27.
