Roam, a Kenyan electric mobility company, in collaboration with ENERGICA, will establish 10 new solar-powered Roam Hubs in Nairobi.
These hubs will offer battery swaps, charging stations, and after-sales support for electric motorcycles. The hubs have the capacity to handle up to 500 battery swaps and charges daily.
Additionally, this solar-powered charging system can save up to 15 KSh per kWh compared to the grid, providing significant savings for users.
These hubs are also compatible with various vehicle brands, minimizing integration issues. However, despite the savings, the high cost of electric vehicles is still a challenge for many Kenyans.
Nairobi’s vast geographical boundaries and potential issues with solar energy could limit the impact of these hubs.
Nevertheless, Roam has the potential to lead the way in Africa with this project, potentially accelerating the adoption of similar systems in other countries.
This could significantly increase environmental awareness on a global scale.
