Experienced footballer Percy Tau, whom Kaizer Chiefs have long wanted to sign, has spoken to the media about his potential transfer.
Tau, who admitted he supported Kaizer Chiefs as a child, stated that he would put his emotions aside and sign with the club that offers the best deal to support his family.
Having recently parted ways with Qatar SC, Percy Tau is currently a free agent, meaning any club interested in signing him can do so without paying a transfer fee. Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly making a strong effort to bring Tau into the squad.
On Wednesday night, Tau appeared on the MSW program and answered questions from Robert Marawa. When asked which team he supported growing up, he said:
“In South Africa, it was Chiefs.”
Sundowns Hold a Special Meaning for Him
However, when asked about the possibility of signing for Chiefs, he made the following statement:
“If I find myself without a club and Chiefs says come, then I’d consider it. But there are still other clubs in the PSL.”
“After all, I played for Sundowns, I won there, and I have a lot of love for the club and the fans.”
“If Sundowns doesn’t offer me a contract and Chiefs does, then going to Chiefs wouldn’t be my fault. It would be theirs.”
Additionally, Tau revealed that he would accept Kaizer Chiefs’ offer if it included a monthly salary of R450,000 and a two-year contract.
