The Orlando Pirates squad is set to undergo a revision in January.
Several players are expected to leave the team, with new arrivals coming in to fill their spots. Competing for the top position in the South African League, Pirates are rumored to lose six players during this transfer window.
The first confirmed departure is Angolan player Gilberto. The player will return to his former club, Petro de Luanda, on loan until the end of the season. Regarding the transfer, Pirates stated:
“The move sees Gilberto return to his hometown club, pending the successful completion of a medical.”
The 23-year-old winger has been sent out on a temporary basis.
Some other players within the Pirates squad are also expected to transfer. Previously, there were reports about Monnapule Saleng’s potential departure, but the team quickly dismissed these rumors.
Among the players with uncertain futures at Pirates are captain Innocent Maela and Karim Kamvuidi. It has been suggested that Karim Kamvuidi no longer wants to play in the South African League.
