The Open Institute of Technology (OPIT) announced its commitment to training a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) professionals.
Recognizing the African Union’s call for accelerated investment in digital infrastructure, skills development, and AI research, OPIT is known for offering remote degree programs in AI, data science, computer science, digital business, and cybersecurity.
GROWING GLOBAL DEMAND FOR AI SKILLS
According to LinkedIn’s 2025 Future of Work Report, global demand for AI skills increased by 38% over the past five years, making OPIT’s initiative in this field highly significant.
Students from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, and Rwanda are increasingly showing interest in OPIT’s programs.
AFFORDABLE AND FLEXIBLE EDUCATION MODEL
OPIT’s expansion across Africa coincides with a time when AI is becoming a vital tool in addressing challenges in healthcare, agriculture, education, and climate change.
Through its affordable, hands-on, and globally aligned model, OPIT allows students to earn internationally recognized degrees while remaining in their home countries.
OPIT COMMITTED TO AFRICA
In March 2025, OPIT hosted its first global graduation ceremony, where 40 students from six continents received their diplomas. Currently, the institution has over 300 students enrolled in its newly launched programs.
Its student-focused approach includes live classes, masterclasses, quizzes, in-house digital content, and 24/7 academic support.
OPIT also stated that it will continue to expand across Africa through targeted support and partnerships with local innovation hubs.
