Nigerian national team legend Augustine “Jay-Jay” Okocha has responded to rumors suggesting that he might run for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Nigerian legend stated that these rumors are not true and that he has not spoken to anyone about this matter before.
“For my players and my people, I want to say this: I have not spoken to anyone or made any statements regarding Nigerian football or any interest in becoming NFF president.”
“I am currently attending the SPORTSBIZAFRICA event in Kigali, so I ask those spreading false information to stop,” he added.
“I thank my people and understand the frustrations we are experiencing, but rest assured that better days are ahead.”
“Let’s continue with faith. I know it is not easy, but we are all in this together. May God bless us all, and please let’s stay strong.”
These rumors emerged at a time when criticism of Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who has been serving as the NFF president since 2022, has been increasing.
This situation also highlights the public’s expectation for the legendary footballer to take action regarding this matter.
