The Nigerian government is determined to strengthen the country digitally.
As part of its renewed partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), it aims to equip 20 million Nigerian youths with digital skills by the year 2030.
Through this initiative, the government hopes to reduce unemployment nationwide, foster innovation, and harness the potential of the country’s young population to drive economic growth. Nigerian youths between the ages of 10 and 24 are expected to benefit most from this opportunity.
The project was officially announced by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, during a high-level meeting with UNICEF representatives at the Presidential Villa.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Fall, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Dr. Rownak Khan, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Nigeria, and Celine Lafoucriere, Chief of the UNICEF Lagos Field Office.
Through this bold step, Nigeria aims to make effective use of its most valuable asset — its youth — by empowering them with the tools and skills needed for the digital future.
