Ademola Lookman, who plays for Atalanta and has recorded 20 goals and 7 assists in 37 matches this season, has been ranked as the 5th best winger among players in Europe’s top five leagues, according to the data analytics platform Data MB.
Lookman, who was named Africa’s Footballer of the Year, has continued to improve and elevate his game over the last three seasons. In Data MB’s analysis, the metrics used were non-penalty expected goals (xG) and expected assists (xA).
At the top of the list is Egyptian star Mohamed Salah. In second place is Raphinha, followed by young sensation Lamine Yamal in third. The only player ranked ahead of Nigerian star Lookman is Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.
The players ranked just behind Lookman are Mason Greenwood, Bradley Barcola, Michael Olise, Vinicius Jr, and Alex Baena.
Thanks to his top-level performances, Lookman has attracted interest from major clubs, and a big transfer is expected this summer. Clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus, and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing him.
