Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, January 11, to participate in the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025. The event, scheduled from January 12 to 18, will bring together global leaders to discuss sustainable development, climate change, and the future of the global economy.
President Tinubu was invited by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, to attend the summit. The weeklong event will focus on accelerating progress towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy and advancing socioeconomic development on a global scale.
Under the theme “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress,” ADSW 2025 aims to foster collaboration among policymakers, business leaders, and civil society to identify pathways for rapid transformation and shared prosperity. The summit will provide a platform for high-level discussions on energy, transportation, public health, and economic reforms, key areas where President Tinubu is expected to highlight Nigeria’s ongoing efforts and successes.
Since its inception over 15 years ago, ADSW has become a pivotal global forum for dialogue, resulting in major international agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy innovators. The summit offers a unique opportunity for Nigeria to strengthen its relations with the UAE and other global players in the pursuit of sustainable development goals.
During his visit, President Tinubu will also hold bilateral meetings with UAE leadership to explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, and technology. This engagement is expected to bolster Nigeria’s international standing as a leader in the transition to a sustainable economy.
The Nigerian leader will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar and other senior government officials. Their participation in ADSW 2025 underscores Nigeria’s commitment to international partnerships and leadership in the global sustainability agenda.
