The nine African teams that will participate in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers have been confirmed.
Among the nine groups, the four best runners-up will play against each other, and the winner of this mini-elimination tournament will become the 10th team representing Africa at the World Cup.
One of the teams—Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon, or the Democratic Republic of Congo—will earn the right to represent Africa. The matches will be held in Morocco at El Barid Stadium and the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex.
Nigeria will face Gabon on Thursday, 13 November, at 16:00 GMT. Gabon aims to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in their history, while Nigeria, having missed out on the 2022 World Cup, plans to make a return in this tournament.
The winner of this match will face the winner of the Cameroon vs. Democratic Republic of Congo game. That match is also scheduled for 13 November at 19:00 GMT.
The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the final on Sunday, 16 November 2025, at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium to compete for the final African spot in the World Cup.
