The final match of South Africa’s MTN8 tournament, featuring the top eight teams from the previous season, has been confirmed.
In the semifinals, last season’s champions Sundowns faced second-placed Orlando Pirates. Both legs ended 1-1, taking the tie to a penalty shootout, where Orlando Pirates advanced 4-1.
Stellenbosch, who defeated Sekhukhune United F.C. 2-0 and 1-1 over two legs for an aggregate 3-1 victory, became the other finalist.
If Orlando Pirates win this match, they will claim their fourth consecutive MTN8 title. These two teams also faced each other in last season’s final, with Orlando Pirates winning 3-1.
The final will take place on Saturday, 13 September, at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
