In a significant move to bolster defense cooperation, senior military officials from Morocco and Qatar held high-level discussions in Rabat on Tuesday.
The talks, hosted by Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and General Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah, Advisor to the Emir of Qatar on defense affairs, centered on enhancing the longstanding military partnership between the two countries. The meeting, which took place at the FAR General Staff headquarters, was attended by senior members of the FAR and a high-ranking Qatari military delegation.
The discussions were organized in response to directives from King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, who emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the Royal Armed Forces and Qatar’s military.
Both sides focused on the deep bonds of respect and mutual trust that define their military relationship. In a joint statement, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening these ties and expanding future defense collaboration. The talks also highlighted the importance of aligning military strategies with the objectives outlined by the leadership of both nations, aiming to address regional security challenges more effectively.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Rabat, Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al-Thani, was also present at the meeting, alongside key FAR officials. The strategic discussions underscored the significance of continued cooperation and coordination in defense matters, reinforcing the two nations’ shared vision for regional security and military readiness.
The Moroccan-Qatari military partnership remains a crucial element in strengthening defense capabilities in a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape. Both sides have emphasized the need for closer cooperation as they navigate challenges in the Middle East and North Africa.
