AC Milan had reached a full agreement with Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Nigerian striker Victor Boniface.
The Rossoneri were also very close to finalizing a deal with his club on a loan move that included a mandatory purchase option for next season. Boniface had even traveled to Milan for medical examinations, and the transfer was considered a near certainty.
However, some problems arose after yesterday’s medical checks. Boniface underwent a three-stage medical examination. The final test was carried out by his trusted orthopedic surgeon, who was specially recalled from vacation. Yet, following these tests, his condition was not deemed sufficient, and it was announced that the final results would be revealed today.
A fourth round of tests is expected to take place tonight, after which the Italian club is set to make its final decision.
If the transfer does not go through, Milan are expected to turn to alternative targets to strengthen their attack.
