The World Boxing Council has donated a state-of-the-art boxing ring to the Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB).
The year 2025 was designated as the Year of Africa, and in honor of this occasion, the WBC made this gesture to show appreciation for the impact African boxing has made.
This donation was made possible through the joint efforts of the WBC and MPBCB President Lonzoe Zimba.
“I’m happy to announce that the ring has arrived,” said Zimba.
“I first spoke about this need with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman in 2022, during a World Boxing Council Convention in Mexico.”
“I must thank the government, especially the Malawi National Sports Council and of course the WBC. The cost of renting a professional boxing ring usually ranges from $950 to $1,250.”
“With this important donation, we will now be able to allocate our resources toward the development of young boxers. These athletes will become the world champions of tomorrow.”
