On January 25, Zimbabwe Football Federation Elections: Jare, Magaya, Mwaruwari, and Mliswa Disqualified by the Ethics Committee
Farai Jere and Walter Magaya failed the integrity test for the Zimbabwe Football Federation (ZIFA) elections.
Walter Magaya is a cleric, Temba Mliswa is a vocal politician, and Benjani Mwaruwari is a former Warriors captain. Among these individuals, some failed to meet the ZIFA requirement of having no pending civil, criminal, or disciplinary investigations or proceedings.
As a result, complaints were filed against them with the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC). These complaints proved effective, although objections were also raised against Philemon Machana and Michael Kweza. Despite the challenges, these two individuals managed to make it onto the candidate list.
The disqualification decision against the candidates was based on the following clause: “In accordance with Article 85(9), after failing to meet the eligibility criteria stipulated in the ZIFA Statutes, 2024.”
With these disqualifications, the remaining candidates for the Zimbabwe Football Federation presidency are Marshall Gore, Philemon Machana, Nqobile Magwizi, Martin Kweza, and Twine Phiri.
