Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth’s Ghanaian star Antoine Semenyo.
Due to Mohamed Salah’s inconsistent performances, the move is expected to take place during the winter transfer window.
Semenyo, whose playing style has drawn comparisons to Sadio Mané, has made a blistering start to the season with 6 goals and 3 assists. The English giants spent £450 million during the summer transfer window to refresh their attacking line, and Semenyo is said to have a £75 million release clause in his contract.
Considering Bournemouth are unlikely to let their player leave mid-season, Liverpool’s total investment in their forward line would rise to £525 million if the deal goes through.
Should the transfer be completed, Semenyo would become one of the ten most expensive signings in Liverpool’s history.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has previously worked with Semenyo and closely followed his development.
Head coach Arne Slot is also known to be seeking a high-intensity right winger suited to his pressing-oriented system.
Tottenham and Manchester United are also interested in the Ghanaian forward, which could make the transfer more challenging than expected.
