Bayer Leverkusen has signed 19-year-old attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza from Hertha Berlin for €12 million. This was the player’s release clause, and he has signed a new contract until 2030.
The player, who registered 5 goals and 5 assists in 30 matches for Hertha Berlin, completed his medical on Sunday, and the transfer was finalized today.
The Algerian playmaker can operate in the half-spaces behind the striker, allowing Maza to play alongside Florian Wirtz or, if Wirtz leaves BayArena in the summer, Maza can take his place.
Maza commented on the transfer:
“I want to prove myself on the big stage at a top European club. I’m really excited to join Bayer Leverkusen, there’s a special team spirit here, and they’ve impressed me greatly in recent years.”
“I can continue to develop in Leverkusen and win titles – that’s what motivates me.”
