The fourth round of CAF Champions League matches has been completed. After three matches played yesterday, the standings in the groups were shaped.
Sagrada Esperança, who has not had a great start to the Angolan league, hosted Mali’s Djoliba. In the D Group match, the Angolan team won 1-0 thanks to Mussa’s goal in the 32nd minute.
In another D Group match, Tunisian team Esperance visited Egypt’s powerful Pyramids. After Youcef Bellaili’s goal, Esperance took the lead in the 56th minute, but they couldn’t hold on to the lead. In the 90th minute, Mostafa Fathy scored a wonderful goal to equalize the score at 1-1.
Just before the match ended, Ibrahim Adel made his mark, and the Egyptian team won 2-1. Esperance, who were ahead until the 90th minute, were crushed by two late goals.
In Group D, Esperance leads with 7 points, while Pyramids, who defeated them, are in second place with the same points but with a better goal difference. Sagrada Esperança sits in third place with 5 points, and Djoliba, in fourth place with 2 points, will be eliminated from the tournament unless a miracle happens.
The other match played yesterday was between Sudan’s strong team Al-Hilal and Algeria’s powerful MC Alger. The Algerian team took the lead in the 5th minute with a goal from Soufiane Bayazid. They managed to hold on to the lead for a long time, but Al-Hilal’s Jean Claude Girumugisha scored an amazing goal to make it 1-1.
The match ended in a draw, and Al-Hilal maintained their lead in Group A with 10 points after the fourth round.
Their rivals, MC Alger, are in second place with 5 points. Tanzanian team Young Africans are in third place with 4 points, while Congolese team TP Mazembe are in last place with 2 points.
