The Global AI Summit Kicks Off at the Kigali Convention Center.
Organizers have stated that this two-day summit will showcase Africa’s potential in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
The event is expected to host over 1,000 participants, including global leaders, government officials, heads of state, tech giants, investors, academics, and researchers.
Additionally, the summit will feature more than 100 AI startups and delegates from 95 countries. Rwandan President Paul Kagame is expected to attend the event.
Other high-ranking officials set to speak at the summit include Adolf Faustine Mkenda, Tanzania’s Minister of Education, Science, and Technology; Jonathan Rei, Barbados’ Minister of Innovation, Industry, Science, and Technology; and Strive Masiyiwa, Founder and Executive Chairman of Econet Group and Cassava Technologies.
AFRICA’S AI MARKET: A MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR OPPORTUNITY
According to data from the Mastercard Foundation, Africa’s AI market is projected to reach $4.92 billion by the end of 2025.
From 2025 to 2030, the industry is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 27%. AI is also anticipated to contribute $2.9 trillion to Africa’s economy.
Given the continent’s vast young population, the benefits of AI could translate into sustainable economic gains.
